Dr Who Road Show

Keystone ran events simultaneously under BBC Big Screens in 5 different city centres over the bank holiday weekend ahead of the launch of the new series of Dr Who. The aim was to bring this very popular show direct to the viewers and re-enforce the connection with the BBC brand.

Short Dr Who promotional films were produced in 3-D, a BBC first and these were shown on the Big Screens. We distributed 60,000 3-D glasses and Dr Who temporary tattoos to visitors and followed the promo films with Dr Who monster appearances through a smoke screen from a specially designed and constructed inflatable tunnel. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan (The new Doctor and his assistant) made an appearance at the Woolwich event.

Visitors were encouraged to interact with the monsters in character and photograph themselves infront of a life size image of Matt Smith traveling through the vortex. As visitors texted these images of themselves apparently ‘with the Doctor’ to friends, more visitors were attracted to the events. The events were compèred by BBC hosts who ran Dr Who quizzes from the stage between monster appearances.
