Venue
The Venue:
York University is the chosen venue for the UK Biodiversity Partnership’s annual conference in 2009. Situated just outside York's historic city walls, the Heslington Campus is set in over 200 acres of mature parklands around a central lake and offers flexible onsite facilities with easy access to the North East.
The Conference:
The Exhibition Centre on the Heslington Campus is where the Conference will take place. This is a fully flexible, purpose built and recently refurbished space overlooking the lake at the heart of the University of York campus.
The Accommodation:
The James and Vanburgh Colleges will jointly provide simple, onsite, ensuite, single occupancy bedrooms for conference delegates. Please note that this onsite accommodation is in University Halls of residence and will not have all the usual facilities you might expect of a Hotel. However, all rooms will have ensuite shower facilities, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, hand towel, bath towel, complimentary toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities.
Getting There:
The University of York is located next to the village of Heslington which is a suburb of the City of York. The full address for the venue is as follows:

- Travelling by public transport is the suggested mode of travel, as the university has excellent public transport links, with bus service operating from outside the railway station directly to the University every 10 minutes. On leaving the railway station - walk through the taxi area to the bus stop on the same side of the road as the station and wait for the next No. 4 purple bendy bus. Your journey will take 5-10 mins only and you should get off at the Morrell Library stop outside the University and follow signs for The Exhibition Centre.
- Drivers are advised that parking a car on campus can be frustrating as spaces are limited and also subject to pay and display rates of £5 per day. A limited number of tickets can be purchased in advance of the event at a rate of £3 per day. Anyone wanting to order these in advance please email me a request and you will be able to collect and pay for these tickets on arrival at the event.
- The nearest Airport to York is the Leeds Bradford International Airport which has direct links to York by train. For further information on getting to and from the airport click here.
