Natural England's 'Securing biodiversity: meeting the challenges of species conservation post 2010' workshop forms an important part of our work to mark the International Year of Biodiversity.

The aim of the workshop is to confirm a new approach to species conservation across England. This will include a more integrated approach through habitat-based work, and establishing greater accountability for species conservation action amongst the broader biodiversity partnership.

The event will also launch a Natural England report on species loss which records the decline and loss of England’s native species since the industrial revolution. We will focus on these issues through presentations by Natural England, key partners and other recognised experts. Workshop sessions will provide opportunities for delegates to identify priorities for improving species conservation in England and to help shape the implementation of the England Biodiversity Strategy. In what is set to be a defining year for establishing future conservation strategies, this workshop will provide an important opportunity to develop a common response to these challenges post 2010.

This day-long event is aimed at stakeholders and specialists in nature conservation and will include presentations by some of the country’s leading thinkers and academics, and group discussions.

I would be very pleased if you are able to take part in this day, which we anticipate will help to chart a course into a new era of conservation. Please click Registration to book your place
